Meet Our Leadership Team

Tia McCoun, BA, M.Div, Founder, President, CEO

Tia brings a wide range of experience to The Boots and Wings Project, having served as a hospice chaplain, cancer patient advocate, and business consultant.

She earned her B.A. in sociology from Lafayette College, where she also studied biology and medical ethics, and her Master’s Degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. Tia's Clinical Pastoral Education was at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinic and she participated in internship training on the pastoral care team at Phelps Hospital in New York.

She’s also attained a family certificate from the  National Association of Mental Health, and CPE training. Tia has served vulnerable populations through community outreach, interfaith alliances,  and multiple leadership boards.  She leverages her knowledge and passion to blaze a new trail for caregivers marked with hope, education, and compassion.

Laura Leigh Barbour, RN, MSN, Lead Consultant and Educator, Clinical and Family Caregiver

Laura Leigh has been a registered nurse since 1975. After gaining experience in medical /surgical nursing, ICU, NICU, community health and all aspects of maternal/child care, she became a clinical nurse midwife delivering babies in the Philadelphia area for more than 20 years. During this time she gained even more specialized experience by working at The Bryn Mawr Birth Center in suburban Philadelphia.

Life experiences and further education awakened Laura Leigh's interest in caring for people at the end of life. She most recently wrapped up her 46 year long nursing career with a 20 year stretch as a homecare RN and hospice case manager working directly with families.

Through the entire thread of her career, she has had countless opportunities to assist families to care for their own family members and close friends during some of life‘s most challenging moments. This experience has given her valuable perspective and experience in how to better educate and guide caregivers in a knowledgeable and compassionate way.

Donna Bethman, Director of Marketing

Donna is a marketing consultant with more than two decades of experience in the printing and marketing industry. She has worked as a print shop manager, ad sales executive, database management specialist and graphic designer.

She runs her own business, Bethman Print Group, which offers marketing consultation as well as printed products. She has been an entrepreneur for over 20 years and is also a founding member of We Beam, a women's entrepreneur networking group.

Donna lives in the Pocono Mountains with her husband and two sons and enjoys being outdoors. When not working, you will find her hiking, camping or hanging out with her husband in their outdoor kitchen.
